The Federal government has concluded plans to release the sum of N174M to 28 tertiary institutions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for the purchase of books, Furniture and ICT equipment.
In a document released by the Education Support Services of TETFund, the agency noted that it had earlier disbursed the sum of N1.6B to 44 institutions for the purchase of same items.
The N174m expected is for the second half of 2023.
The department of Education Support Services was created to manage and implement some of the academic content-based intervention programme of TETFund in public tertiary institutions of the country.
The summary of the disbursement as stated by TETFund, the sum of N46.6m will be disbursed to five universities, N34,5m to seven polytechnics while N93m will be disbursed to 16 colleges of Education.
The agency noted that to facilitate the implementation of Higher Education Book Development Programme, it constituted a group TETFund Board, with a membership of ninety-nine academics under the chairmanship of Prof. Charles Aworh.
