Miss Okpochini Deborah Nwabuogor a native of Umusume quarters in Obiaruku, has made a name for herself in the field of sports. The swimming prodigy who has won several laurels in the sport, displayed her talent and distinguished herself during the last National University Games (NUGA) 2022, as a representative of the University of Port-Harcourt were she won the Gold medal in the 100m freestyle with a time of 59.90secs and earned herself a slot to compete in the World University Games in China slated to kick-off on the 25th of July 2023.
Unfortunately, she has only recently been informed by her school, the University of Port-Harcourt that they would not be a able to sponsor her to the Games.
Quite eager and hopeful, she said: “I am the only female that qualified for the Games from Nigeria and if I am opportuned to go, I will qualify for the Olympics next year”.
She is therefore appealing for the sum of N3.5m sponsorship to enable her compete in the championship.
