SOUTHERN NIGERIA HAS RECORDED MORE ADMISSIONS INTO TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS THAN NORTHERN NIGERIA BETWEEN 2017 AND 2022.

A report by the Federal Ministry of Education from its Tertiary Information System Dashboard, shows that a total of Three Million Four Hundred Thousand admissions were recorded in tertiary institutions across the country, between 2017 and 2022.

Out of the figure, Two Million and Sixty Thousand admissions were from the South, while One Million Three hundred and Forty Thousand were from the North.

A further breakdown of the figures showed that the South-West tops the other zones with a total of Eight hundred and Fifty one thousand, six hundred and twenty admissions representing 25% of the total admissions, followed by the South-East with Six hundred and Fourteen Thousand Two hundred admissions which represents 18.04% of the total admissions for that period.

Then, followed by the South-South, North-Central, North-West and North-East with, 594,520 (17.46%), 581, 520 (17.08%), 417,000 (12.25%), 344,900 (10.13%), respectively.

These figures can help direct educational policies within the different zones.
