Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo is every inch an Ivory Icon. From hard work, diligence and dedication in his academics he rose to the zenith of his profession and got the opportunity to serve his people as Governor and also as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He was born on 4 April 1962 at Herwagana Gombe. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1985, where he excelled with a degree in Accounting. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos in 1992 and a PhD in Accounting from Igbinedion University.
Armed with his knowledge acquired from the Ivory towers, he began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1985 and worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 1988 to 1999. Following his stellar performance at the CBN he was recognised and appointed as Accountant-General of Gombe State, a position he held till 2005. He was then appointed Accountant-General of the Federation on 20 April 2005. He also served on the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He resigned as Accountant-General of the Federation in 2011 to contest for election as Governor of Gombe State.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers and Nigeria Institute of Marketers.
Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo is that student that took his studies seriously and with hard work and dedication he excelled and today he reaps the benefits of that intentional dedication to excel.
Notwithstanding his background, despite the odds, surmounting the challenges with excellent performance in his studies, he reached the zenith of success in his chosen profession. He is definitely a role model for youths seeking to excel in life.
